Installing CogniPage

What you need

Around 400 MB of disk space is enough to begin with. If you later switch on on-device transcription, its speech model adds between 32 MB and 181 MB depending on which one you choose — and only then.

Installing on macOS

1. Download the right build

   The download page picks for you, but if you are choosing by hand: Apple Silicon for M1 and later, Intel for older Macs. Not sure? Apple menu → About This Mac tells you which chip you have.

2. Open the .dmg

   Double-click the downloaded file. A window opens with the CogniPage icon and an Applications shortcut.

3. Drag CogniPage into Applications

   Then eject the disk image — you can delete the .dmg afterwards.

4. Open it from Applications

   The first launch takes a few seconds longer while macOS verifies the notarisation. Because our builds are signed and notarised, you should not see a security warning at all.

Installing on Windows

1. Download the installer

   A single .exe. It installs CogniPage and nothing else — no toolbars, no bundled offers, no browser extensions.

2. Run it

   The installer is code-signed, so Windows names Kenaff Limited as the publisher instead of warning you about an unknown one. On a very new release SmartScreen may still show "Windows protected your PC", because it weighs how widely a version has been downloaded as well as who signed it — choose More info → Run anyway once you have confirmed the publisher.

3. Follow the installer

   If WebView2 is missing, Windows fetches it as part of the install. Windows 11 always has it already.

Checking you got the file we published

Right-click the installer → Properties → Digital Signatures. A genuine build is signed by Kenaff Limited. From PowerShell, in your Downloads folder:

Status reads Valid. A signature that is missing, invalid, or names anyone else did not come from us — don't run it.

Every Windows release also publishes a SHA-256 checksum next to the download, if you would rather check it that way:

On macOS none of this is needed — the Apple Developer ID signature and notarisation already do it, and macOS refuses to open a modified build.

The first launch

CogniPage opens on Home, with permission cards at the top. Nothing is captured yet: capture cannot start until you grant the operating-system permissions and approve a source. Both are covered next, in Granting permissions.
